| BGHJ Architects led an interdisciplinary team of architects, engineers, and scientists throughout the design and implementation of this $17.5M specialized, level-three biocontainment facility. Based on an internal atrium spine, creating an interactive link between labs and offices, the design successfully integrates the rigid requirements of bio-containment with an open plan gesture. This concept fosters interaction between the different research disciplines. Today, the building remains one of the few of its
kind to retain its flexibility given advances in technology relating
to both scientific research and building systems. |
