The 102-bed East Prince Hospital is 18,000 square meters with an expanded emphasis on ambulatory care. BGHJ Architects in association with Dunlop Architects developed the design through a consensus approach with twenty-seven planning committees. Key to the design is the concept of patient centered care and a supportive working environment.

Inpatient areas have been organized in pods, maximizing patient / healthcare worker adjacencies and sun exposure. Outpatient facilities are arranged around a central spine with clinical services in close proximity within the core structure. The new hospital offers state of the art digital imaging and complete surgical procedures for Islanders.
