| Hospitals and Laboratories are high energy consumers largely due to the ventilation requirements of building codes. Although sustainable design issues play a secondary role to life safety, a trend towards energy conservation and green building concepts is emerging. As part of this trend BGHJ Architects are committed to implementing green strategies that make sense in these technical building types. Part of this process involves developing life-cycle assessments, establishing and implementing sound sustainable goals, and verification of achievements. Projects are designed to meet the Federal Commercial Building Incentive Program. Buildings are further assessed for their conformance to LEED™ and Labs 21™ guidelines. |
