Canada’s Smartest Kitchen

Client: Holland College - Culinary Institute of Canada
Size: 11,000 sf
Cost: $ 4M

Canada’s Smartest Kitchen represents the contemporary face of Holland College’s renowned Culinary Institute. The project’s design was driven by a desire for a high degree of transparency connecting each of the spaces containing each of the stages of food preparation and marketing. As an experimental kitchen and laboratory, students, teachers, chefs, and scientists were given bright, naturally lit work spaces unaffected by direct sunlight or glare. Canada’s Smartest Kitchen is designed to study and prototype the processes of food production from its sourcing, preparation, presentation, testing, and marketing with advanced processing and telecommunication technologies and spaces.
