Designed in 1974 by founding partners of BGHJ Architects, Canada’s entry in the UN Habitat’s Exposition, “The Ark” was an ecologically designed bio-shelter heated and powered by the sun and wind and opened in 1976 by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.

From this early award winning design the firm has continued to design “green” and “off the grid”structures such as the new Greenwich National Park Day Use Facility
